In this blog, we will talk about the two strategies that we used to promote the “Word of the Week” activity. Each strategy was tested for 2 weeks. Our first strategy is making notes and sticking them onto lockers around the school in order to get everyone’s attention (from October 3rd to October 21st). The second one is attaching a QR code onto the bulletin board to help student easily access the WOW section on Firefly (from November 28th to December 16th). For the first strategy, we received 46 responses in the first week for the word "Perspective". In the next week, we dropped to 32 responses. For the second strategy, we received 25 responses for the word "Gratitude" from November 28th to December 2nd. Yet, from December 12th to 16th, we received 60 responses, the highest amount of responses in our 4 weeks of imposing the strategies as well as from the beginning of the school year. Looking at our results, we can see that our strategies are effective ways to promote WOW because the number of participants clearly increased during the time when those strategies were used, especially during the second strategy. However, we did not reach our goal of receiving 70 responses per week. We will try the next strategy in the week of January 9th to January 14th.
