From what we saw, our school's library seems more like a socializing spot for students rather than a quiet working space and a place to check out books. In fact, considering the amount of books in circulation, there aren't a lot being checked out and read by our students, except for classroom materials that the students are required to read. Statistically speaking, the number of middle schoolers checking out books are much higher than that of high school. Furthermore, high school students tend to hold on to their books much longer than the middle schoolers not usually because they haven't finished reading them but because they do not spend as much time reading as they got older. Knowing that there are many solvable factors that affect the probability of students borrowing book, our goal is to increase that probability. For the upcoming months, we will arrange monthly events in the library with specific themes in order to attract more students into the library. For example, in October, we are going to decorate the library into a spooky, mysterious place in the spirit of Halloween. From doing this, we hope that we will be able to change everyone's point of view towards the library as an exciting, educational place where they could have fun reading books and discussing about the themes involved in those stories.
